What if an app could sum up all your chats and notify you what is essential? It would not only save time but also offer you insights with just a click. Well, Google is working on exactly the same.
The tech giant is currently devising a summarisation feature for its car-based application Android Auto - an app that car drivers can use to operate their phone screen hands-free through the car’s display.
The revelation came about after developers at 9To5Google found the lines of code for this particular feature and published about it while decompiling the latest version 14.52 of Android Auto on the Play Store. Since the feature is still being developed, the launch date and other details are unclear.
Google has consistently been engaging with such add-ons in recent times. Google’s Pixel 8, which was released in December 2023, contains a "Summarize in Recorder” feature. This functionality gives the users a basic rundown of the chosen conversation while also offering other methods of responding.
Google has launched 2 similar products; the first is Google Bard, which is a direct competitor to ChatGPT. The second is Magic Compose, a feature in Google Messages that provides the user with the required answer to possibly any mail, conversation or action, whether it's conveying regards to your friend for their birthday, mailing a reply to your boss asking about the progress of the latest project or preparing a CV tailored for a specific niche.
It will be interesting to see the accuracy of the feature once it is released. Google does mention regarding this feature that “These summaries will be generated by artificial intelligence, so it’s possible there could be mistakes.”
In the constantly evolving landscape of digital communication and AI integration, Google's latest endeavour with Android Auto is just another example of the fusion of technology and convenience. While we anticipate the deployment of this AI-powered summarization feature, it's clear that Google is not just keeping pace with the future; it's actively shaping it, continuing to drive innovation and steering us toward a more connected, efficient, and intelligent world.
